Little Green Grant – Successful Bid
Pembrokeshire FRAME has successfully bid for support through the Little Green Grant fund administered by PAVS. We plan to use this grant to raise awareness and educate about reducing waste and fighting climate change with the local community by appointing Penny The Polar Bear as Pembrokeshire FRAME’s Ambassador. This project will help us to reach out to individuals, local schools in the national park, along with community groups to raise awareness about reuse and reducing waste.
We aim to set up COOL SPOTS across our sites and other community sites, such as galleries and information centres, which will carry the message about the need to reuse and recycle and include banners with information about FRAME’s work in sustainability and re-use. We will provide information for children and adults through information cards, children’s quizzes that will include ideas and tips for helping to reduce waste and getting involved in supporting FRAME and its aims.
We will also set up a Friends of FRAME scheme for children and adults to join to become regular donors. We will be looking to hold a range of reuse and swap events at our Green Shed facility.
Pembrokeshire FRAME has through its work contributed significantly to reducing waste but we know that this project is needed because we can see the impact of climate change in our community. Through the use of this grant Pembrokeshire FRAME wishes to raise awareness about reducing waste, particularly to the younger generation, and the to help tackle local climate change issues – we feel that The Penny The Polar Bear campaign is the perfect way to do this.
Pembrokeshire FRAME will continue to liaise with and collaborate with other local groups who share our aims including those involved in reuse and reduce waste initiatives such as community fridges.
We need to encourage more people to donate their unwanted items, rather than throw them away and to encourage people to not buy new before looking to purchase reused and recycled items. We are focused on encouraging a circular economy and the use of this grant will further increase our impact on reducing waste and protecting the beautiful environment of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park that we all have access to and about how reducing waste, can lead to cleaner, healthier, wealthier lives.
