One of A Kind is a vibrant furniture upcycling charity and social enterprise, offering a variety of opportunities for volunteering and work, all while championing sustainability.
Our Mission:
At the heart of One of A Kind is our commitment to sustainability. We focus on upcycling old, unwanted furniture and working with materials either donated or reclaimed from the local area. By doing so, we not only reduce waste but also create beautiful, unique pieces that bring new life to homes.
Our Story:
Established in the Summer of 2013 at our Merlin’s Bridge site, One of A Kind is an integral part of Pembrokeshire FRAME. Our initiative provides meaningful opportunities for people with disabilities, particularly in furniture painting and upcycling.
Get Involved:
Participants and volunteers become One of A Kind Team Members, engaging in the upcycling process within our dedicated studio. They learn a range of techniques, from beginner to advanced levels, including how to select, prepare, and paint furniture to achieve stunning, chic results.
Every team member participates in personal development planning sessions, helping them to identify their goals, establish what they want to achieve, and record their progress. This approach not only enhances their skills but also boosts their confidence and sense of accomplishment.
Our Products:
Unique One of A Kind pieces are available for sale in our Merlin’s Bridge and Pembroke Dock shops, as well as through our online store. These pieces are crafted with care and creativity, ensuring that each item is truly one of a kind.
